Recently Chelsea were found guilty of breaching rules regarding the signing of minor players from abroad as a result of which FIFA chose to punish the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The Blues have been slapped with a two transfer window ban which comes into effect at the end of the current season.

A club statement on March 8 read(as reported by Sky Sports): “Chelsea Football Club is astonished by the FIFA appeal committee’s decision not to suspend its sanction pending completion of the appeal process.

“So far as the club is aware, in all previous cases where a registration ban has been imposed by FIFA, a decision has also been made to suspend the sanction until the appeal process has been completed.

“In this case, Chelsea considers that it is being treated inconsistently in comparison with other European clubs. We will consider our next steps once we have received the written reasons for this decision from FIFA.

“The club notes the Appeal Committee’s statement that it has the right to appeal to CAS. In the meantime, the club will continue to fully cooperate with the proceedings.”

Chelsea though have denied any wrongdoings and the London outfit have chosen to appeal against the ban.

As per reports the date of the hearing has been scheduled for April 11.

This hearing could very well shape the immediate future of Chelsea given the fact that Roman Abramovich has been planning a squad overhaul during the summer.

The Blues have plans to sell off a number of their unwanted players and bring in new ones. But if they were to lose the appeal then everything would go down the drain.

Also, the likes of Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson Odoi have been trying to force a way out of the club during the summer and in case the transfer embargo is not lifted, Chelsea will not be able to bring in ideal replacements for the players which depart.
