Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is planning to sign a new striker this month and his desperation is growing with each passing game.

The Blues lost their EFL Cup clash vs Spurs this week despite being the better side during the game. And this was largely because the manager had to once again deploy Eden Hazard through the middle of the pitch.

Multiple reports are claiming that Sarri wants to sign Gonzalo Higuain who is currently out on loan to AC Milan.

And if rumours from Italy are to be believed then the Blues have made a lot of progress towards the signing of the Argentinian.

As per Marca, Chelse have agreed on personal terms with Higuain and they now just have to convince Juventus to terminate the loan deal and then sell the striker to them.

But as per Claciomercato, this is one other problem that Maurizio Sarri has to deal with. And this one seems to be an internal one.

While Gonzalo Higuain is ready to join the Blues but Chelsea’s director of football, Marina Granovskaia is not too keen to sanction the move.

Marina does not have any issues with the player’s qualities but rather with his age.

Chelsea’s director of football does not want to splash £45 million on a player who is currently 31 years old.

The Blues as it is have a very rigid policy regarding players over 30 and Marina feels that they will waste a huge amount of money if they bring in Gonzalo Higuain.

Sarri wanted to sign Gonzalo Higuain during the summer but somehow the deal did not materialize.

And now with both Morata and Giroud misfiring, signing in Gonzalo Higuain is more of a necessity rather than a luxury.
