Chelsea are currently third on the Premier League table but they are yet to secure a top-four spot with Liverpool and Leicester City breathing down their necks.

The Blues are just one point ahead of Liverpool as well as Leicester so anything other than a win and the London outfit could be playing in the Europa League instead of the Champions League.

This final day tussle also means all the three clubs will have to keep an eye on how the other two are performing on Sunday and possibly adapt likewise. Chelsea though are in the strongest position since a win will be good enough for them to secure a top-four spot which is why Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that he doesn’t wish to put unnecessary focus on the live updates when his team will take the pitch against Aston Villa on Sunday.

‘For a long period of the game I want to be in a bubble,’ the manager said.

‘If it’s near the end and we have results that have an influence on the amount of risk we need to take, because we are not leading or are not comfortable leading, then we need to know.

‘I prefer not to know, but if it’s necessary to adapt our risk-management during the game, I think this is quite normal.

‘First of all we approach the game like the game against Leicester, it’s in our hands and we can decide things with a win, so we prepare for this game to be ready to win it, but in a football match there can be a lot of twists and turns so we need to be ready for anything, on our pitches and the others.

‘We need to adapt to what the game demands and the situations. We’ve had several games under pressure and in crucial moments and we always had very good results, so we trust ourselves to be able to perform again.’

Leicester and Liverpool will have to do a few permutations and combinations to make sure they can secure a Champions League spot for the next season but Chelsea clearly do not need to make things complicated by constantly knowing how these two sides will be doing on Sunday.

Aston Villa have not been in the best of forms in the past few months while Chelsea have turned things around since the appointment of their new manager. The Blues will be going into this game as the favourites and if they can manage to score a goal or two early on in the game then Thomas Tuchel will not have to worry about how the other two probables are faring in their respective matches.
