Chelsea picked up yet another win in the Premier League this time beating Crystal Palace 2-0 at home and with this win, the Blues have now managed to pick up wins in each one of their previous six league matches.
Right now Chelsea are third on the league table – eight points behind league leaders Liverpool and they still have an outside chance of challenging for the title this season.
Obviously, their main objective will be to keep their Champions League status for the upcoming season but clearly Frank Lampard has done a brilliant job at managing the side despite the fact that he could not buy any new players due to the transfer ban.
So far, Chelsea have lost just two matches in the league and both of them have come against the big names – Liverpool and Man United which is why Jose Mourinho feels the Blues could come up short against the giants of European football.
“In the first weekend [a 4-0 loss to Manchester United] I was worried and I’m still worried with the big matches,” he told Sky Sports[as reported].
“I think [Frank has done] fantastic work. The kids coming into the team are fitting amazingly well with the top-class players like Willian and [N’Golo] Kante.
“I think really, really great work by Frank. But they lost twice against United [also in the EFL Cup], they lost against Liverpool at home. They conceded four goals against Ajax and I’m very, very curious to see Chelsea in the next match at the Etihad.
“I’m curious to see if they found that great empathy between the good football they play and the pragmatism that the top teams must have to play against top teams.
“When they find that I think they have a great team for the future. I don’t believe in them to finish top two, but I believe very seriously for them to finish top four.”
While Chelsea have played some really good football but Jose Mourinho might just have pinpointed the only shortfall that the Stamford Bridge outfit might have this season.
While Lampard’s young brigade have managed to fend off most of the teams but the matches they have fallen short in, mostly have been against the big clubs.
And with a busy schedule coming up both in England as well as Europe, it will be interesting to see whether Chelsea can maintain the same pace.
UPDATE:
Jose Mourinho might have made these comments because he felt that Chelsea have a serious loophole that needs to be fixed but Lampard’s assistant head coach Jody Morris is clearly not paying any attention to the Portuguese.
Just days after the ex-Chelsea manager made his comments, Morris has come out to take a sarcastic dig on Twitter.
The assistant head coach chose to quote Jose Mourinho’s comment with the caption, ‘Jose is still worried’ along with a couple of emojis of tears with joy.

Mourinho is yet to respond to these comments but one thing is for sure that the Portuguese will not let this go easily and will make a response at the appropriate moment.
