Arsenal brought in Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid but it looks like Phil Thompson is not too have with the player’s recent outings.

Dani Ceballos was supposed to be the long-term replacement for Aaron Ramsey who head to Juventus during the summer and he intact started the season in fine form.

During his first few games, the Real Madrid loanee was one of the star players for Arsenal, controlling the games and dictating play.

But soon that aura fizzled out and right now he is constantly churning out average performances.

And during a time when Unai Emery’s job at the club is severely under threat, Phil Thompson feels Dani Ceballos is not doing enough to justify his place in the starting line-up.

While talking about the midfielder, Phil also told Sky Sports that Mesut Ozil did have a good game vs Wolves on Saturday despite getting a rare outing.

“Mesut Ozil played today, and I think he did really well,” he told Soccer Saturday[as reported].

“He was a good link-up player that you see. But you still felt that they were a little bit flaky. There wasn’t enough. Ceballos, I don’t really think he’s doing enough to warrant playing in this side.”

So far this season, Dani Ceballos has made 11 appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal and has managed to provide only two assists which is something totally unacceptable if he is being pitched as the prime playmaker.

While the fans are yet to turn against the midfielder but already some people have urged Emery to use Mesut Ozil more often and if this happens then Ceballos will surely have to pack his bags and return back to Spain by the end of the season.

All said and done though, Unai Emery does not have too many options in that role and if the manager is adamant that he will not be using Ozil then Dani Ceballos more or less has a free pass to the first XI irrespective of his performances.
