Manchester United likely to lose this key player after Sunday’s win vs Brighton?

Manchester United came back from behind to pick up all three points vs Brighton in the Premier League this weekend but the manager, once again, chose to keep David De Gea on the bench.

The keeper was given time off to return to Spain for the birth of his first child and Dean Henderson has taken this opportunity to claim the No 1 spot in the team. And all, De Gea can do is watch from the stands.

This game vs Brighton was really crucial for the fate of the Spaniard as well as Henderson but since De Gea was left on the bench, Rio Ferdinand is certain that he will be heading out in the summer.

Rio said on BT Sport, as quoted: “You’ve got two options – you fight for your position, or you say, ‘that’s me done, I’m off and I’ll go somewhere else.’

“If Dean Henderson finishes the season as No 1, I don’t see De Gea staying there. No chance, I don’t see it. I think he’ll go out now. His wages will be a determining factor, but at the end of the day, two number ones doesn’t work.

“De Gea has been a mainstay in the team, but Ole is maybe seeing things differently now.

“He’s put Henderson in front of him in the queue. Does De Gea accept that and stay? I don’t think so.”

This was supposed to happen sooner or later and to Ole’s credit, the manager has managed to pull this one off without any major headlines.

The Man United boss tactfully used De Gea’s break to test the capabilities of Dean Henderson and since the academy graduate has come out with flying colours, Solskjaer should now be looking for buyers for David De Gea.

Despite his huge wages, selling the keeper will not be a major problem for the club since a number of top European sides will be more than eager to get their hands on the 30-year-old.

A couple of seasons ago, David De Gea was the saviour for Man United but over the past one and a half years, he has been on a steady decline. This campaign, he’s played in 24 Premier League games but has managed to keep only nine clean sheets.

Dean Henderson, on the other hand, has pulled off 12 clean sheets in his 20 appearances across all competitions, conceding only 14 goals.
