David Ospina was taken off the pitch with a head injury during Napoli’s 4-2 win over Udinese this past weekend.

The Arsenal keeper who is currently on loan to Napoli collided with Udinese’s Ignacio Pussetto early in the game but was able to continue after initial treatment.

But right before half-time, David Ospina collapsed to the ground and was immediately taken to the hospital.

Reports have claimed that the player will be staying at the hospital for the next 24 hours and Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the injury is not too serious.

The Napoli boss said: “Fortunately it’s nothing serious, he’s conscious, they did a CAT scan that is negative, he’ll remain under observation tonight.”

Napoli have also released a statement saying: “David Ospina has had a CAT scan after being involved in a collision during the Napoli’s 4-2 win over Udinese.

“The scan has come back clear but Ospina will stay in a clinic overnight for observation.”

David Ospina had basically had a sudden fall in blood pressure which resulted in dizziness.

But the keeper is expected to make a speedy recovery and he should be fit to play right after the international break.

Now it remains to be seen whether David Ospina will feature against his parent club Arsenal in the Europa League quarter-finals.

The rule book cannot prevent the goalkeeper from playing in the game but it remains to be seen what the two clubs have agreed upon.
