Chelsea currently have a transfer ban looming large on them but that has not stopped the Blues from offloading players.
Eden Hazard has already left the club to join Real Madrid and now it looks like Davide Zappacosta could also be sold off this summer.
Davide Zappacosta joined Chelsea from Torino in 2017 for a transfer fee of around €25 million.
But during the past two seasons, all the right-back has done is warm the benches at the club.
During the 2018-19 season, the 27-year-old has featured in only 10 Premier League games playing a total of just 719 minutes.
Normal circumstances would dictate that the Blues hold onto every player in their current squad given that they won’t be able to bring in any new signings during the summer transfer window.
But clearly, the management feels that letting Davide Zappacosta leave will not harm their plans for the upcoming season.
Reports are suggesting that the club are willing to listen to offers for the full-back and there is a strong possibility that he could head back to Italy during the summer.
As of now, not too many clubs are interested in him but during the past couple of months, AS Roma have been linked with a move.
It is being claimed that Roma might try and sign him for the upcoming season primarily because he will be available for cheap.
Chelsea bought Davide Zappacosta for a transfer fee of around €25 million but as per TransferMarkt, his current value stands at €15 million.
And since the full-back has featured in only 26 Premier League during the past two seasons, the Blues have no other option but to sell him off at a loss.
But according to some experts, Chelsea should keep Davide Zappacosta for one more season instead of offloading him for a cut-price simply because the club cannot put that money to any use this summer transfer window.
