Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced that Alberto Moreno will not be a part of the squad next season as the club are not going to renew his deal.

The left-back joined Liverpool from Sevilla in 2014 and with each passing season, he has seen his role dimish in the first XI.

During the 2018-19 season, Moreno made only 5 appearances across all competitions for the Reds and with Robertson performing so well, it is more or less certain that the Spaniard is off no use.

Talking about the player’s exit, Jurgen Klopp said(as reported by the BBC): “Alberto is a person whose personality is reflected in how he plays – full of life, full of energy, always positive.

“An unbelievable character who is always willing to give all of himself for the team.”

With Alberto Moreno out of the picture, Andrew Robertson is not the undisputed king in the left-back role but if reports are true then this will not be the case for the upcoming season.

As per reports, the Anfield outfit are targeting Southampton’s Matt Targett during the summer transfer window.

Matt Target played 16 Premier League games for the Saints last season and he is being tipped to become the backup for Andrew Robertson next season at Anfield.

While Liverpool are undoubtedly a massive club but it will not be easy for Klopp to get his hands on the youngster as Aston Villa too are interested in signing him.

And a number of experts feel that Matt Targett might just snub the interest from Liverpool and end up joining Villa since he will receive guaranteed game time there.

But Southampton are not sitting idle at this point in time and they have no intentions of parting ways with Matt Targett this summer.

A couple of reports have claimed that the Saints are planning to promote the left-back to the first team squad next season as Ryan Bertrand will be heading out of the club during the transfer window.
