Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren had played a very limited role last season and it looks like he will be leaving the club this summer.
During the 2018-19 campaign, Dejan Lovren played in just 13 Premier League games despite Van Dijk’s first choice partner – Joe Gomez being injured for most of the season.
Joel Matip was obviously preferred to the Croatian and it looks like Jurgen Klopp has made up his mind to offload him this summer.
Klopp obviously has the likes of Gomez and Matip who can partner Van Dijk next season which means that Lovren is of no use to the Reds.
And if reports are to be believed then Liverpool are willing to accept around £25 million in return for the centre-back with AC Milan being the first in line.
Milan have been linked with Dejan Lovren for a couple of months now but as the Serie A side were banned from the Europa League, the transfer has been proved a bit problematic.
Some rumours claim that Dejan Lovren is not too keen to join Milan given that there will be no European football next season.
But others believe that Milan’s financial losses last season is the main reason why the transfer is taking so long.

Now though as per the latest update, Jurgen Klopp seems to be the main reason why AC Milan are finding it really difficult to get their hands on Dejan Lovren.
Calciomercato are reporting: “…while he[Dejan Lovren] isn’t a sure starter at the club, Jurgen Klopp really admires his leadership abilities and that is one big reason why he wants to keep him in the side for as long as possible.
“We understand that this is one reason why signing Lovren will be tough for Milan this summer, despite their strong interest in last year’s World Cup runner-up.
“The idea has carried on for weeks now and Lovren is a strong target for the Rossoneri, but Liverpool value him at around 25 million euros and would not accept anything less.
“Milan have Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara figuring out how to thrash out a possible deal but Liverpool won’t give any discounts.
“The offer has to match their valuation for them to even consider it.”
If Dejan Lovren does end up staying at Liverpool next season they surely he will fall further down the pecking order given that Joe Gomez will also return back to the fold.
So it would be sensible for Liverpool to cash in on his before AC Milan change their mind and start looking for alternatives.
