N’Golo Kante has been a key player for Chelsea ever since he moved to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City.

During the 2018-19 season, he played in 53 games across all competitions scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists and out of these apart from a single goal, all the others came in the Premier League.

But right now, the Frenchman is struggling with a hamstring injury which he picked up towards the end of the previous season.

N’Golo Kante did not play for France during the summer due to the very same injuries and it looks like the midfielder is having some trouble to recover.

There had been doubts whether he would travel to Japan for the pre-season games but now Frank Lampard has revealed that the midfielder has started training with the physios and will also travel with the squad.

Speaking after Chelsea’s over St Patrick’s Athletic, Lampard said(as reported): ‘He’s good, he’s good. N’Golo has been training with the physios on his own this week.

‘[He’s] Still feeling the effects of his injury from the end of last season which we know with the Europa League final.

‘I just wanted to be careful with him, as do the medical team. It’s not a problem, we know he’s a fit boy, we know he’s got a great attitude.

‘The last thing I wanted to do is try to push him too early. When the injury feels like it’s right, hopefully, next week in Japan we start to integrate him back into the training.’

Last season, Maurizio Sarri handed a new role to N’Golo Kante as Jorginho was given the defensive midfield role.

Kante was pushed wider midfield role by Sarri but still, the World Cup winner excelled in his job for most of the season.

Now it will be interesting to see what new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has planned for the 28-year-old.

Does he hand N’Golo Kante his old role back or will he keep playing in the wider areas and turn into a goalscoring midfielder for Lampard?
