Dele Alli has revealed that Liverpool will act as a catalyst for Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League title challenge next season.

Spurs finished fourth in the league table last season meaning they had yet another disappointing domestic campaign. But they did have the chance to change everything by beating Liverpool in the Champions League final.

That though did not happen as the Reds ended up beating Dele Alli and co as the Lilywhites played perhaps some of their worst football of the whole season.

And now right before the 2019-20 season kicks off, Dele Alli has predicted that the heartbreak in the final will act as a boost to play even better this time around.

Dele Alli said(as reported): “Obviously it was difficult to take – getting to the final and not getting over the line.

“It was a great campaign but it was heartbreaking not to have won the final.

“We are disappointed as a team but we’ve got to try and use it to our advantage for next season.

“We’ve got to take the positives and try and use it to drive us on this season.

“We’ve just got to try and use it as an advantage and use the hurt we felt after the game – and the hurt that we’re still feeling now when we think about it.

“We’ve just got to try and use that to drive us on as much as we can in the next season.”

Dele Alli had a really tough time with injuries last season which invariably affected Spurs’ title challenge. But the England international is hoping to remain injury-free during the 2019-20 campaign.

“It was obviously a difficult season for me in terms of injuries,” Alli added.

“It was the most injuries I’ve ever had in one season, but I’ve got to go forward now and not think about it in a negative way.

“Every time I got injured, I tried to come back as strong as I could, have a break and use the time to work on the things that weren’t quite right, keep building and come back stronger.

“But I’ve got to keep working on those things throughout the season. I feel like I used the time well. But it’s tough – not just physically but mentally as well. You have to dig deep. Sitting in the treatment room and watching the lads train and watching at games is not nice. We had a great season as a team but individually I was disappointed to get the injuries. I’ve got to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
