Rangers have recently called for the suspension of SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster over the handling of the member’s ballot required to end the 19-20 season with immediate effect.

While the resolution right now is stuck in limbo, Ranges have claimed they have proof of foul play thereby urging the launch of an independent investigation alongside the sacking.

Gers chairman Douglas Park said in a statement: “The lack of leadership and responsibility from the SPFL as a members’ organisation has shocked me.

“If ever there was a time for complete openness and transparency, it is now. Crucial decisions are being made on the issues of promotion and relegation behind closed doors and without proper time for consideration or debate.

“The farcical conduct of this affair seems to me to bring the corporate governance and business operations of the SPFL into sharp focus. It is an example of an undemocratic culture, which has existed within the SPFL for far too long.

“We call for the suspension of the SPFL’s Chief Executive, Neil Doncaster and its legal adviser, Rod McKenzie while an independent investigation is conducted.”

And while Rangers are not looking to let this one go away easily but the SPFL have had some sympathy from former Scotland international Alan Hutton.

While Hutton has called the handling of the situation amateurish but at the same time, he has claimed everyone is facing a very unique circumstance hence they are bound to be confused.

Hutton told Football Insider: “It is a difficult decision. It has never happened before so nobody knows how it is going to pan out. It is a decision that will have to be made by all of the clubs.

“I understand it is tough but the handling of it is not good reading for people on the outside looking in. It is up in the air, the leaks – it looks amateur.

“They are making a decision that has to be best for all parties and that is the difficult part.”

Rangers surely have nothing wrong by raising their voice but now what remains to be seen is if they have the proper evidence to back up their claims and push the SPFL board into a corner?
