Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek who is currently with the England squad at the World Cup has lashed out at the Stamford Bridge outfit for their failures to manage the young talents coming out of the club.

Loftus-Cheek is a Chelsea youth academy product who made his debut for the Blues in 2014. But since his debut, the midfielder has failed to become a first-team regular at the club.

Since 2014, the 22-year-old has made just 32 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit and spent the whole of last season out on loan to Crystal Palace.

Loftus-Cheek has a wonderful season with Palace playing 25 games in all competitions and scoring 2 goals. And this performance also helped him book a place in England’s 23-man squad for the Russia World Cup.

But with Chelsea slated to have a new manager next campaign the midfielder’s future is far from secure and now he has chosen to lash out at his club.

Loftus-Cheek said“It’s been so difficult to go from playing every game then get to the seniors and not be given a chance.

“It’s really difficult mentally, there’s only so long you just enjoy training with top players.

“From a year ago, I’ve improved so much from playing. A game situation is completely different.

“It’s hard to compare the faith of Gareth Southgate and Roy Hodgson and my lack of chances at Chelsea because it’s such a big club – managers are under pressure and maybe don’t want to take a chance on a young player.

“I don’t understand what’s going on behind the scenes fully, but Chelsea’s a massive club and I understand why chances don’t come so often”.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s failure to break into the first team is not an anomaly as a series of top rated players have failed to get a spot in the first XI.

While everyone around them were raving about the players’ talents, the Chelsea management failed to nurture these talents and eventually sold them off to other rival clubs – where they sequentially showed what they were capable of.

Players like Juan Mata, Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne are perfect examples of Chelsea’s flaw and Ruben Loftus-Cheek might very well be the next player on that list.
