Manchester United will take on Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup and the Red Devils will be hoping to keep their good domestic run going.

Ever since Ed Woodward brought in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the caretaker manager, the mood at the club has been lifted and the players are back to playing attractive football.

While the hunt for the next permanent boss is still on but United are also in the hunt for a new director of football.

And if rumours are to be believed then Eric Cantona could be handed that role.

Eric Cantona is a loving figure at Man United and the Frenchman was the first big star under Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

Eric Cantona is currently the favourite to become the next director of football at the club and this news has gained significant wind ever since the Frenchman posted a cryptic message on his social media account.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Manchester United’s need for some direction at board room level has never been clearer, so it would be a brave decision to hire Cantona despite his legendary status.

“With Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton in the Old Trafford director’s box already, it would be a perplexing decision to bring the Frenchman into the role.”

Fabio Paratici, Andrea Berta and Gary Neville have also been tipped to take over the reins.

Ex-Man United keeper Edwin van der Sar is also being considered for the role but as things stand Eric Cantona is the frontrunner.
