Fred has been under heavy fire ever since he joined Man United and it was more or less certain that the Brazilian would be a massive failure at the club.
But during the past couple of months, the midfielder has really dug deep in order to prove himself and against Manchester City, Fred was particularly outstanding.
The Man United forwards might have taken all the accolades after the match but speaking after the match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not shy away from praising the midfielder.
“[He was] Arguably man of the match today,” Solskjaer told reporters of Fred.
“He took the ball, he’s playing against Kevin De Bruyne, probably the best player in the league and I thought he was excellent.
“It’s great to see it; the boy deserves it. But when you get a run and keep the team together, Scott [McTominay] and Fred have made a great partnership.”
And now even Jamie Redknapp has come out to praise Fred saying the midfielder has done an incredible job in fighting to revive his career at Man United.

Carragher wrote: “A defeat against Astana and draw at home to Aston Villa one week, then back-to-back wins over Tottenham and Manchester City the next.
“It would be too much to say Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have turned a corner but what an uplifting few days for the Norwegian.
“Marcus Rashford is on fire and getting bums off seats. Mason Greenwood, who I hear does amazing things in training, is such a prospect, too. But the player I’m most pleased for is Fred.
“The stick he received was remarkable. From ‘useless’ to ‘waste of money’, he was called it all.
“Maybe he is not the answer for Manchester United in the long term. Maybe he won’t be their midfield lynchpin for years for to come.
“But he has dug deep and refused to let the critics win. He was superb against City. In the same way, everyone was quick to criticise, let’s give him the credit he deserves, too.”
