Manchester United kicked off their new Premier League campaign with a 2-1 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford and the performance was not something that a United fan would be proud of.

It was a typical Jose Mourinho performance where Pogba and co chose to sit back and let Leicester have most of the possession while United mostly depended on counter attacks to build their moves.

But one thing that went for the Red Devils was that they received a penalty within just 75 seconds of the match.

Pogba scored from the penalty spot and gave United the lead which they hung on to until Luke Shaw made it 2-0 late in the second half.

Once Pogba put the ball into the back of Kasper Schmeichel’s net after taking an unusual run-up, the camera caught something unusual.

After the spot kick was awarded, Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez were seen arguing over who should take the penalty.

And this footage has caused a fair bit of uproar amongst the fans who have blamed Jose Mourinho for not making it clear before the match as to who will be the penalty taker.

But now, current pundit and former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville has tried to explain as to why Pogba and Sanchez had a bit of an argument.

Neville said: “I just wonder whether in pre-season, with Pogba not being there, Sanchez was on penalties,” the former right-back responded.

“Maybe with Pogba coming back so late and not even being included in the team until a couple of days ago it hadn’t quite been worked out.

“I think it would have been put on the board before who the penalty taker was. I think maybe one of them decided… Pogba was confident so he had to have it.”

No matter what the reason fans are not particularly happy with the fact that two of their star players were caught arguing publicly over a penalty and that too during a time when the mood inside the dressing room is not too joyous.

Manchester United travel to Falmer Stadium next Sunday to take on Brighton and Hove Albion.
