Rangers and Celtic have long been in the hunt to sign Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie for a couple of months now.

The left-back has played in 44 games this season for Aberdeen scoring four and assisting four but with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, the 27-year-old was more or less certain to leave during the summer.

But now it looks like Graeme Shinnie is all set to move out of Scotland and is on the verge of signing as a free agent for Derby County.

Derby County manager Frank Lampard has been keeping an eye on the defender for some time now and it looks like the Aberdeen captain has snapped up the opportunity to work with one of England’s greatest ever players.

The deal is on the verge of being agreed upon and Rangers have already pulled out of the race.

Rangers know for certain that they are chasing a lost cause and hence want to waste no more time in going after Graeme Shinnie.

Celtic though have not yet given up hope as rumours suggest the Bhoys are still trying hard to make Shinnie change his mind.

But multiple reports though have claimed that Graeme Shinnie has already agreed on terms with Derby County and the left-back has no intentions of looking back.

The likes of Sheffield United and Bristol City also wanted to sign the left-back but eventually, it is Derby who seem to have won the race.

UPDATE:

Graeme Shinnie has recently been pictured at Pride Park and these images have since gone viral on social media which means that Derby are set to announce the deal pretty soon.
