At the start of the campaign, everyone expected Man City to defend their Premier League title with considerable ease.
But going into the second half of the Premier League season, that has certainly not been the case.
It is Liverpool who are leading the race right now and many believe the Reds will finally be able to end their decades’ long trophy drought.
City though are peaking at the perfect time and Pep Guardiola men are exerting the pressure perfectly.
But speaking earlier this week, Man City boss Pep Guardiola has claimed that his team and Liverpool aren’t the only clubs who are still in the Premier League race.
When you hear this statement you will immediately feel that the manager is talking about Spurs who currently sit third on the Premier League table.
But Guardiola has chosen to go one step further and include a host of other teams.
“I never said Tottenham was not there, nor Chelsea,“ Guardiola said on Tuesday.
“I never put out all five-six teams, and United is making this run of victories every single week, they’ll be there to fight for the Premier League.
“If Chelsea is able to do games in a row, they’ll be contenders too to win the Premier League, so everybody is there. The gap is not too big.
“With 39 points to play for, when you are nine, ten points behind, it’s not too much. Seeing what’s happening right now in the Premier League, everybody is ready to take points.”
Theoretically, Chelsea and Manchester United both have a chance of winning the Premier League title but the Blues are currently 12 points adrift the top spot while Solskjaer’s men 14 points behind.
And no one really expects either Liverpool or Man City to drop so many points.
