Manchester City have tasted their first defeat of the Premier League season as Chelsea beat them 2-0 on Saturday.

This means Liverpool are the only team left in the league who are yet to lose a game this season.

And while City were struggling to keep the ball against Chelsea, Liverpool managed to breeze past Bournemouth 4-0 as a result of which the Reds are now on top of the Premier League table.

This joy though, might not last too long as Liverpool take on Manchester United next weekend and Jose Mourinho’s men have some wind in their sails.

And after City’s loss to Chelsea, Pep Guardiola has come out to claim that his team are not invincible and Liverpool can very much win the league.

“We’re not here to be invincibles, or to be unbeaten, we’re here to try to be champions,” Guardiola said.

“It doesn’t matter. We want to make one point more than our opponents.

“Now, at the moment, Liverpool are better than us.

“We are in December if you ask if Liverpool can win the Premier League, I would say yes. If you ask me if Tottenham, Arsenal or Chelsea can with the Premier League, I would say yes.

“There is not a sport in the world that one team or player wins everything.

“It’s about how you lose, we played the way we want to play. After that, when the opponent is good we say congratulations.”

Liverpool ran riot vs the Cherries on Saturday but their joy will be very much shortlived as they have an all-important game vs Napoli coming up in midweek straight after which they welcome arch-rivals Manchester United at Anfield.

City will take on Hoffenheim in the Champions League and next weekend they take on Marco Silva’s Everton at home.
