Celtic FC were the 2017-18 Scottish Premiership champions with a margin of 9 points and Brendan Rodgers side were virtually untouchable last season.
And given their fine performances last year, many would have tipped the Hoops to defend their title this campaign. But it seems that the fans clearly have other ideas.
According to a report, Rangers FC are currently the favourites to win the Premiership during the 2018-19 season.
The report claims that a little over 63% of the fans are betting on Steven Gerrard’s side to outclass Celtic and lift the trophy at the end of the season.
And many feel that the appointment of Steven Gerrard is everything to do with this favouritism from the fans.
After a disastrous last season, the Gers appointed Steven Gerrard as their new boss early on in the summer and since then the former Liverpool midfielder has almost changed the outlook of the whole squad.
Gerrard has made as many as seven signing during the summer transfer window and more players are still scheduled to come in. While Celtic on the other hand, have made only two signings during the same period.
Brendan Rodgers’ inertness in the market has drawn heavy criticism from many people who argue that Gerrard is having a much more positive impact compared to the man who once coached him at Liverpool.
Celtic are currently just 22.49% favourites amongst the fans to defend their trophy while Rangers stand at a staggering 63.31%.
