Germany were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup group stages and the critics have drawn every possible dagger at Joachim Low and his side.

Die Mannschaft entered their final group game of the World Cup against South Korea needing a win to qualify for the knockout stages. But what followed was a catastrophe.

Low’s side looked lacklustre from the very beginning and despite numerous efforts, they were unable to break the deadlock.

And as the Germans decided to through the kitchen sink, they were hit by two quick-fire Korean goals during the final few minutes of the match meaning the defending champions had to succumb to a 2-0 defeat.

While every player in the German side has been sharing the blame for Germany’s embarrassing exit, playmaker Mesut Ozil has especially been singled out by the fans.

Ozil was easily one of the worst performers for Germany during the night and it seemed as if he was going more through the paces rather than trying hard to make something happen.

And when the final whistle was blown, like every German player, the Arsenal man too broke down.

After getting a grip on things, Ozil was on his way back to the dressing room and as he was about to enter the tunnel he threw his shirt at the crowd.

But instead of getting an appreciation, fans hurled abuses at him which led to the playmaker to react and eventually get into an altercation with a fan.

But before things could get ugly, Germany’s goalkeeper coach Andreas Kopke and team bodyguard Bjorn Borgmann held Ozil back.

And now speaking to Bild, Kopke has revealed“A fan insulted him. That’s why I immediately moved Mesut away from there.

“I put my hand over my mouth and said: ‘he [the fan] should hold his beak’.”

But Germany coach, Joachim Low was not ready to single out Mesut Ozil and laid out the blame evenly amongst all his other players.
