Frank Lampard went through a lot of obstacles during his first few months as Chelsea manager and most pundits were sure he wouldn’t last even a full season at the club.

From not being able to buy new players to losing to Man United 4-0 during the first day of the Premier League, the ex-midfielder was surely a recipe for disaster at Stamford Bridge.

But now, he is easily one of the most impactful managers in the Premier League as the Blues have not dropped a single point in their last six outings with their previous loss coming at the hands of current league leaders Liverpool.

And before Frank Lampard takes his Chelsea side to the Etihad this weekend, Man City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that his rise is a good thing for English football.

“Chelsea for many years have been an incredibly top team,” he said[as quoted by the club’s official website]. “From the beginning, his team have played really well.

“He is consistent in his ideas; the results are there. I’m happy for him.

“I don’t know him very well but a little but and I have good info of him here. He is an excellent person and playing the way they play is perfect for English football.

“I would say that when you know the Club, it’s a good advantage. Frank Lampard knows Chelsea perfectly – the fans, media, the players…

“You must be clear in what you want to do and at the big Clubs, you have top players.”

So far the Blues have lost just two matches in the Premier League and right now they find themselves eight-point behind the top spot.

Also if they can manage to beat Man City on Saturday, they might not only shorten the gap between them and leaders Liverpool but will most certainly throw Manchester City out of the title race this season.
