Carlos Pena has revealed he is heading back to Rangers this week after his loan move in Mexico collapsed.

Pena joined Rangers in the summer of 2017 and with the Gers spending so much money on him everyone was pretty certain that the 28-year-old would come good.

But Carlos Pena has turned out to be a major flop at Ibrox and now the Mexican media has suggested that he has been released by Necaxa due to his poor behaviour.

Carlos Pena posted a video on social media saying“For me, it’s back to Rangers now.

“And we will see in a few days what will happen there.

“I want to thank Necaxa for all the support it gave me, all their people, the president, the players and all the staff that is in this great institution.

“The things that some journalists have said are totally false, I came out very well from the club, I am very happy and very grateful to this institution and all their fans.

“So it’s back to Rangers for me and I send a big hug to all the people who support me.”

It is still unclear if Steven Gerrard will welcome him back into the squad or send him out on loan yet again but many fans do not want their manager to take a risk with Carlos Pena – given that he was a major flop in Mexico.

But Ibrox Noise have given a proper explanation as to why Carlos Pena’s loan move was so unsuccessful.

Carlos Pena is primarily an attacking box-to-box midfielder but ass per the report, he was mostly played in defensive midfield and sometimes at full-back.

So clearly he was being played out of position which is one of the top reasons why Necaxa have said that he is a surplus to their needs.
