Thibaut Courtois Real Madrid

Thibaut Courtois left Chelsea during the summer to join La Liga side Real Madrid. But his move to Spain has been anything but a bed of roses.

For the most part of last season, Thibaut Courtois had maintained that he wished to head back to Spain in order to spend more time with his children

And finally, he got his dream move when he signed a six-year contract with the Los Blancos back in August.

Unlike Chelsea though, the shot-stopper has failed to hold on to his spot in the first eleven as Julen Lopetegui more often than not chose to play Keylor Navas in front of goal.

But ever since Lopetegui was sacked, Thibaut Courtois has enjoyed a free run infront in the playing XI.

Now though, Courtois has revealed why he chose to join Real Madrid.

Thibaut Courtois has said that it is because of this competition for his position that he opted to move out of Chelsea.

“The only difference is that we now have confidence and momentum,” Courtois said.

“Before this run, we did not have any luck, goals came at the wrong moments, the ball would have hit the post instead of going in, things like that.

“My run of games? I know how competitive this club is and how difficult it is for the coach to choose in positions in a lot of games, that is why I came here.

“We have a great spirit in the dressing room and we push each other on, we all get on very well and it is a good situation for us all.”
