Liverpool had been in top form throughout the 2018-19 season but still, the Anfield outfit failed to win the Premier League.

The Reds had lost just a single game this season in the league but eventually, it was Manchester City who successfully defended their title.

Man City won the Premier League by just a single point and many pundits have tried to dissect as to why Liverpool failed to win the league despite being so dominant this season.

Speaking on the same topic, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that one failure in the transfer market has summer might have cost Jurgen Klopp’s men the league.

Liverpool had been in the hunt for Nabil Fekir before the start of the 2018-19 season and at one point it was being believed that the Reds were on the brink of signing him.

But eventually, the deal fell through and Carragher believes that the lack of a world-class central midfielder was the reason for the downfall of Liverpool.

“We lack that[Nabil Fekir] player in the squad,” he said(as reported by ESPN).

“We have it in [Adam] Lallana and [Xherdan] Shaqiri, but this is a different level of player.

“It’s the one thing Man City have on us, they have Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne. We don’t have that type of player. We have great midfield players who are all very similar.

“We could add something a little bit different. But that would only really be if it was a good price for us.”

Nabil Fekir has once again been in sensational form for Lyon this season – scoring 12 goals and making 9 assists in just 39 games across all competitions.
