Mikel Arteta is finally a happy man after Arsenal picked up a wonderful 4-0 win against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Mesut Ozil along with Arsenal’s front-three all put their name on the scoresheet meaning the Gunners have finally ended their four-game unbeaten streak.

The win might have kept Arsenal in the tenth spot of the table but at the same time they have been able to claw down the points different from Chelsea – right now, they are just seventh points off the top-four.

And according to Ray Parlour, Mikel Arteta has done a pretty decent job during such a short period of time and he believes that next season, the Gunners can get back their fluid form and move on to greater things.

Parlour told talkSPORT, via Metro: ‘He [Nketiah] struggled a bit first half – holding the ball up, and that’s what Lacazette does so well.

‘He holds the ball up and brings other players into play, while Eddie was a little bit of a struggle first half. Second half, he did much better, he had a couple of opportunities.

‘That is where managers have to make big decisions. At least he is showing that he will give the youngsters a go.

‘Saka was excellent again on the left-hand side, he had another really good game. I think he has to get tied down now on a new contract. I think they are trying to organise it at the moment.

‘At the moment Arsenal are 10th in the table, which isn’t good enough, but Lacazette’s goal and how the players celebrated, they knew he needed that.

‘There are a lot of changes that need to be made at Arsenal but there is a feel-good factor again.

‘I think the supporters are getting behind the team and suddenly they are thinking: next season, could we really have a go? I think fifth place is still wide open for quite a few clubs, so big game Sunday against Everton.’

Arsenal top-four hopes – Verdict:

Arsenal still have a very realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season more so since Man City have been handed a European ban.

But this will be easier said than done since a host of other clubs are fighting for just two spots on the table and surely a number of them will be left with broken hearts. and to be honest, the way the likes of Spurs and Man United are playing, they have a better chance of moving into the top-tier of Europe.
