Cristiano Ronaldo has had a flying start to the 2018 World Cup in Russia after he literally dragged the Portugal side and helped them win a point against Spain.

Ronaldo scored a hattrick against Spain and with that the Real Madrid star kept up his fine goalscoring form in international tournaments.

Many people think that this winning mentality that Cristiano Ronaldo possesses has been acquired over a period of time but according to one of his former teammates, Ronaldo has always been a winner.

Former Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra spent a number of seasons with Cristiano Ronaldo when the two were playing at Old Trafford.

And the Frenchman has revealed a story of Ronaldo and Rio Ferdinand playing table tennis from their Manchester days and the outcome clearly describes the winning mentality of the Portuguese star.

Evra told ITV Sports’ World Cup podcast: “They were playing table tennis and Rio beat him and we were all screaming and Ronaldo was so upset,

“Then he sent his cousin to buy a table tennis table. He trained for two weeks at home and he came back and he beat Rio in front of everyone. That’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

“That’s why I am not surprised today that he wants to win another Golden Ball, why he wants to win the World Cup because he’s an angry man.”

Portugal take on Morocco in their second group B match of the World Cup on Wednesday afternoon and Cristiano Ronaldo’s team need to win this match if they are to have a realistic shot at topping the group.
