Manchester United have a number of academy players who have shone for their senior side this season but Angel Gomes is unfortunately not one of them.

The youngster has come up through the ranks at Manchester United and this year was supposed to be his breakthrough season at the club. But up until now, the player has made only 2 appearances in the Premier League playing a total of 19 minutes.

Angel Gomes is out of contract at the club at the end of the season but it seems like he has no intentions of remaining at Old Trafford beyond the summer.

As per reports, Man United are willing to offer a new deal to the youngster worth £25,000 a week, but his representatives are said to be unimpressed with the offer.

And if the club cannot come up with a new and improved offer then Angel Gomes is likely to leave as a free agent in the summer with Chelsea likely to be his next destination.

Should Man Utd let Angel Gomes leave?

Players like Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams and Tahith Chong have all gotten significant first-team action this season but Angel Gomes seems to be lagging behind.

And now that Man United have signed Bruno Fernandes in the attacking midfielder’s role, there’s very little chance that Angel Gomes will get to play any significant part in the first XI.

Also if United manage to get back into the Champions League next campaign then surely Angel Gomes would want to move out rather than warming the academy benches for one more year.

And as far as Chelsea are concerned, Frank Lampard has done very well with all his youngster this season so surely Angel Gomes can blossom under the guidance of the Blues boss if he were to head to Chelsea in the summer.

While Man United would not want to see him leave on a free transfer especially to a direct rival but if they cannot up their offer, then there’s very little chance that Gomes will remain at OT beyond the summer.
