West Ham United have a long-standing interest in signing Chelsea’s Armando Broja but now Newcastle United have also entered the scene, as per CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.

Jacobs is claiming that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a big fan of Broja and he wants to sign him on a season-long loan deal.

Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “Newcastle are seriously considering a bid for Armando Broja. He remains a top West Ham target. Ajax have enquired, too, & Napoli have a long-standing interest.

“LCFC also monitoring situation. Chelsea’s plan with Broja hasn’t changed. Thomas Tuchel wants to assess in pre-season.”

Should Chelsea allow Armando Broja to leave?

With Lukaku heading back to Italy, Broja will get a much better chance to prove himself but we don’t think he will become the first-choice centre-forward next season.

It’s more than likely that Tuchel is going to sign a new striker which means if Armando Broja chooses to stay at the club then he will have to play second-fiddle.

It will make much more sense to send the 20-year-old out on a loan deal to help continue his development rather than make him a benchwarmer.

Do West Ham United have a better chance of signing Armando Broja?

Some pundits believe that despite Newcastle United’s financial power, West Ham United have the upper hand in signing the Chelsea forward because of Declan Rice.

It’s an open secret that Chelsea want to sign Rice and the experts believe the Hammers can use him as a counter-weight for the Broja deal.

However, Ben Jacobs has made it clear that Moyes has no intentions of parting ways with Declan Rice and any move for Armando Broja is going to be a separate deal.

He wrote: “A Broja sale won’t help Chelsea get Declan Rice this window. West Ham want Broja on a separate deal and won’t entertain a swap to reduce Rice’s huge fee.

“Rice won’t be allowed to leave this summer. West Ham continue to price suitors out the market with any enquiries.”

This basically means West Ham and Newcastle United are going to have a pretty fair tussle in this transfer race.
