Chelsea have taken some real concrete steps in order to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder Kai Havertz – as per a report in Calciomercato.

The report claims: “The Germans are asking for at least 100 million euros, with swings reaching 120.

“More or less the value of Joao Felix and Haaland. The Bianconeri remain vigilant, Chelsea in recent weeks seems to have taken some concrete steps.”

This is great news for the Blues fans since up until now only Liverpool and Manchester City were being named in the race to sign Kai Havertz but now it seems like Frank Lampard has asked his board to make a serious move for the playmaker.

Kai Havertz has come up through the ranks at Leverkusen and this season, the youngster has caught the attention of a number of big clubs across Europe who are also ready pounce on him as soon as the current season ends.

Is Kai Havertz planning to remain in Germany?

Now as per the transfer odds, it seems like Kai Havertz is expected to remain in the Bundesliga next season since Bayern Munich are currently the pick of the lot, to sign him for the next season.

Betfair spokesperson, Darren Hughes said, as per Football London: “Football’s glorious return continued last night with some more Bundesliga action, but if Kai Havertz continues to impress as he did against Werder Bremen, the 6/1 odds on him to join Liverpool may well shorten considerably, with more reports suggesting the Reds have a keen interest in him.

“While Bayern Munich remain the odds-on favourites to sign the youngster at odds of 4/6, Liverpool are currently the second favourites to nab Havertz.

“A move to Manchester looks considerably less likely, but not impossible with odds of 16/1 for Man City and 20/1 for Man United, Havertz is sure to continue to attract the attention of clubs around the world with performances like last night.’’

The German international still has two years left on his current deal at Leverkusen which is why the Bundesliga side want around £100 million in exchange of Kai Havertz.

It still remains to be seen if Bayern can afford to pay such a steep price but surely Chelsea are in no position to sanction such a big buy more so if they manage to bring in Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.

Liverpool and Man City do have the financial firepower to pay the demanded amount for Havertz but if the youngster does move to either of these two clubs, he will have to fight for a place in the starting line-up which is something he won’t want after having played in 23 Bundesliga matches so far this season.
