Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has fallen down the pecking order ever since Mikel Arteta took charge of the club and right now, the North London side are actively looking to sell him off.

Serie A side Torino had been the frontrunners in signing the 24-year-old but now their sporting director Davide Vagnati has insisted that Marco Giampaolo is longer interested in bringing in Torreira.

“Surely at the beginning of the season we had some ideas, then during this month Giampaolo got to know the players,” he said, as reported.

“He has a lot of faith in Rincon, so a new director is not a priority at the moment.”

Is Lucas Torreira set to remain at Arsenal?

This clearly does not mean that Lucas Torreira will remain at Arsenal for the 2020/21 season since Milan News had recently claimed that AC Milan have shown an interest in signing the Uruguayan midfielder.

The report claims: “According to what reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on Sky Sport 24, Milan, always looking for a midfielder, did a survey for Lucas Torreira of Arsenal.

“The Uruguayan was one of the profiles indicated by Giampaolo last year, so much so that the coach wants him even now at Turin, and Milan has started contacts to understand the intentions of the player, who wants to return to Italy. “

Mikel Arteta clearly has no use of Lucas Torreira so the exit of Torino from the transfer race would have been a big blow for Arsenal. But now it seems like Milan are ready to make a move for the midfielder which is great news for the Premier League side.
