Ole Gunnar Solskjaer surely had made a positive impact at Manchester United this season and according to Eric Bailly, the Norwegian has a key advantage over Jose Mourinho.
Solskjaer took charge of Man United as a caretaker boss right after Jose Mourinho was sacked but shortly after that, the former striker was given the full-time job due to his fine streak of form.
But ever since getting the permanent job at the club, things have not been so smooth for the manager but slowly, it seems like Solskjaer is making all the right calls.
And according to Eric Bailly – a player who has had such a massive injury-hit career, the Norwegian boss has a key advantage over Jose Mourinho.
“Yeah, it’s also important being able to work with someone who is a former player,” Bailly told ESPN FC, via MEN.
“Someone who understands the players’ situations, understands all the things that can happen from time to time.
“Because football is not just played on the pitch, it’s also about all the things that go on around the game, the things that people don’t see… and he is someone that gets that and it helps the team a lot. Besides being a coach, he’s just a normal person you know?
“Yeah, I would say like an uncle… and having someone like that in the club gives the players more strength.
“The truth is, he’s someone that will always talk to you. He always communicates well. He gives you so much confidence… because as a footballer, you go through moments where you feel low and he can read that and when he sees that he immediately comes over to you and talks to you.
“He offers advice so that you can regain confidence and for me, that’s so important because like I said, we have a very young team an if we have a coach like that then the team will go from strength to strength.”
Solskjaer replicating Sir Alex Ferguson:
We have all heard stories of how good a man-manager Sir Alex Ferguson was at Manchester United and it seems like the Norwegian has taken up this trait from his former boss.
Despite not being at the top of their game, the Man United players seem to be a happy bunch under Ole, something that was clearly missing under the reign of Jose Mourinho.
While Mourinho took every opportunity to come out and criticise his players, Solskjaer, on the other hand, has always backed his boys which is why players like Luke Shaw and Fred have been able to turn around their careers at the club.
At one point, it seemed like both Fred and Shaw were massive failures at the club but this season both these players seem to have reinvented themselves under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and right now they are one of the first names on the manager’s teamsheets.
