Rangers FC boss Steven Gerrard is currently out in the market looking for a third striker and the Gers fans are hoping that their club can bring in a new player before the summer transfer window ends.

Currently, the Ibrox outfit are hot on the tail of Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty but a string of other names have been popping up every now and then.

And one such name is AFC Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe.

Defoe had been linked with a move to Rangers earlier on during the summer but at that point of time, Gerrard did not show much interest on his former England teammate and got busy signing other players.

But now that the Light Blues are desperately looking for a striker, the former West Ham United striker has revealed that he does not wish to move to Scotland this season.

Defoe said“I saw some of that, but again, that’s just something I’ve always had.

“Even when I’ve been at clubs and played every game, you’ll always find something, especially with social media now. I’ve played with Steven Gerrard and we’ve got the same agent.

“I’m just like everyone else, you see things on Twitter and in the papers, but that’s it really.”

Jermain Defoe who scored 79 goals in 186 games for Tottenham Hotspur is currently in the twilight of his career at Bournemouth in the Premier League but there’s no denying that if Rangers had signed him then his experience would have come in very handy for the other players.

Being 35-year-old would have meant that Jermain Defoe would not have played each and every game at Ibrox and he would have served as an ideal backup for Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq up front.
