Rangers FC are currently out in the market looking for a third centre-back and reports have it that the club are eyeing a loan move for Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall.

Worrall has fallen down the pecking order at Forest and is now behind the likes of Michael Dawson, Danny Fox, Michael Hefele and Tobias Figueiredo and Forest boss Aitor Karanka recently claimed that he willing to listen to offers for the 21-year-old.

And now it is being claimed that Rangers have held negotiations with Nottingham Forest over a season-long loan deal for Joe Worrall.

The Gers boss had recently said that he is a huge admirer of the young defender.

“I’ve been open as I can with the media in terms of the areas we’re trying to strengthen.

“I won’t be mentioning any names. Worrall is a fantastic player – I’ve been following him for many years with England. He’s a really good player but I don’t think I have to add to that any more.

“But yes we are looking for a centre-back.”

And now Rangers legend, Ally McCoist has claimed that signing Joe Worrall would be a sensible move for the club.

Talking on BT Sport, McCoist said“I think that would make sense,

“I think the signing of (Kyle) Lafferty, Rangers desperately needed another centre-forward, even for back up.

“I don’t necessarily think Lafferty will be back up, but if something happened to (Alfredo) Morellos, you’ve got to have somebody.

“Yes definitely (Rangers need more bodies).

“A centre-half is an obvious one as well.

“The two centre-backs, (Connor) Goldson and (Nikola) Katic, I think have been excellent, along with the goalkeeper.

“They’ve looked really a lot more solid than they have done in many a season.

“But they certainly need back up, if they want to compete, as they naturally will want to do, on those fronts.”

While Joe Worrall is interested in joining Rangers but his parent club are not too keen to send the defender out on loan to the Scottish Premiership.
