Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard has been eyeing a move for Kilmarnock midfielder Jordan Jones but it seems that Celtic FC are not too far behind.
Gerrard’s interest in the player is nothing new as the Gers had tried to sign Jordan Jones at the start of the new year but Kilmarnock had then rejected a bid of £350,000 for the 23-year-old.
But now it seems that the manager is determined to land the midfielder before the end of the week.
Jordan Jones joined Kilmarnock in 2016 and after the club had rejected Rangers’ offer many left that Jones would not be leaving the club during the 2018-19 season.
But things have suddenly taken a turn for the worse for Kilmarnock after Jordan Jones has refused to sign a new deal with the club thus prompting the club to find a buyer for the midfielder as soon as possible.
Thankfully for Kilmarnock, the Light Blues are still interested in the player and are willing to pay somewhere around £500,000(unconfirmed) in the form of a transfer fee.
If the Gers do manage to land Jordan Jones then it will be a huge boost for the manager since the 23-year-old can play as a midfielder as well as a second striker. And this will be beneficial even more since Jamie Murphy has now been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Having said that though, bringing Jones to Ibrox will not be a cakewalk for Gerrard’s side as some reports suggest that their Old Firm rivals Celtic FC have grown a liking for the midfielder.
Rangers are a bit sceptical of the fact that the Hoops might sabotage their deal at the very end and they themselves will walk away with Jordan Jones.
