Liverpool beat Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final and now they will take on Spurs in the final next month.

And right now, the biggest cause of concern for Jurgen Klopp is his defensive lineup.

While Van Dijk has been rock steady in central defence but the manager seems to be a bit concerned over the selection of his second central defender.

At the start of the 2018-19 season, Joe Gomez was partnering Van Dijk in defence but after the youngster got injured it has been Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren who have taken up turns to play in the centre of defence.

But some rumours have claimed that with Joe Gomez becoming fit again, there is a big possibility that Klopp might choose to play the youngster ahead of both Lovren and Joel Matip.

Now though, Liverpool icon Mark Lawrenson has claimed that it should Joel Matip who should get to partner Virgil Van Dijk when the Reds take on Spurs in the final.

“It would be tough on Matip. He has been really, really good – and not just defensively,” Lawrenson told Liverpoolfc.com(as reported).

“He has been a bonus because he has been coming out with the ball and committing opposition midfield players. If you’re a midfield player in that team, you’re looking at that and thinking it’s great because he’s giving you a little bit more room to play.

“I think it’ll be Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk. I can’t see any other combination.”

Joel Matip has featured in 22 Premier League games this season for Liverpool and the 27-year-old played in both the legs of the semi-finals vs Barcelona.

And given the way the defender has performed this season, we are pretty confident that Jurgen Klopp will not tinker around with his first-team lineup for such a crucial game.
