Rangers FC have made their seventh signing of the summer transfer window in the form of Liverpool full-back John Flanagan.

Flanagan, 25 is a Liverpool youth team product but he has never been able to fulfil his potential at Anfield despite club legends like Kenny Dalglish claiming that the player could become a world beater.

During his time with the senior Liverpool team, John Flanagan managed to make only 51 appearances for the Reds and he spent the second half of last season out on loan to Championship side Bolton Wanderers.

But with Bolton too, the right-back made only 9 appearances and finally, he joined Rangers FC on a two-year deal.

The club has revealed that the full-back has already joined the first team squad in Spain for their pre-season training and the new signing has claimed that a couple of known faces at Ibrox will help him settle down at the club and hopefully succeed.

Flanagan said“I think it is always good when you go to a new team if you know a few of the lads. But, I think, even if I didn’t know them, I’m a likeable character and I’ll bed in well with all the lads,”

John Flanagan has worked with Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield during their time at Burnley while he also knows another midfielder – Jordan Rossiter from their days at the Liverpool academy.

Flanagan has moved to Ibrox as a free agent but there is not a huge possibility that the right-back will be getting regular first-team starts. As things stand, John Flanagan will be acting as a back-up to James Tavernier, unless Rangers already have plans of offloading him.
