When Chelsea brought in Maurizio Sarri as their new manager one of the first things that the Italian did was to bring in Jorginho from Napoli.

And before the player arrived there was a lot of buzz regarding him since he had been the talisman for Napoli in the previous season.

When Jorginho arrived, Sarri wasted no time to hand him the defensive midfielder’s role which meant N’Golo Kante had to play in a wider role.

At first, a lot of eyebrows were raised over this decision but the Chelsea boss was adamant that he was making the right call.

Unfortunately, though, Jorginho has turned out to be a big failure during the current season failing to make even a single assist despite starting most of the games at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield.

And now speaking about Chelsea’s poor form this campaign, Paul Scholes has come out to claim that Jorginho is the main reason why the Blues have faltered this season.

‘I don’t think Chelsea are that far away, I enjoy watching Chelsea, I just think there are a couple of issues they need to sort out,’ Scholes told TSN(via Metro).

‘Right at the start of the season, I thought there was always going to be an issue with Kante and Jorginho.

‘Especially in the away games, you’ve seen the away games against the big teams, he doesn’t have the legs to get around the pitch.

‘At Chelsea he’s fine, it’s tight, it’s close, he doesn’t get exposed. ‘I think in away games he gets exposed.’

During the 2018-19 season, Jorginho has played in 49 games managing to score only two goals and it looks like all the teams have found out a way to bypass the pass-master.
