Jose Mourinho Tottenham take on Chelsea

Spurs have appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager just hours after sacking Mauricio Pochettino and now Frank Lampard has given his thought on his former boss becoming a derby rival.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear that Spurs are in no position to challenge for the Premier League title this season but next campaign they will surely aim to win the silverware.

While many people have doubts about how the Portuguese will handle the current squad but even the biggest haters will agree that Jose Mourinho is the perfect man to bring in a trophy to the club.

The Chelsea boss was recently asked whether the introduction of his former boss has given a significant boost to Tottenham to which he made it clear that their London rivals are still worthy of finishing in the top-four this season.

“We had a couple of messages to congratulate him on his new role,” said Lampard[as quoted by talkSPORT]. “I think history and results speak for themselves.

“He has done that consistently. It’s what we measure him and us as managers.

“It keeps him off Sky Sports for a while! He has got a good team. They were a lot of people’s favourites to be in the race.

“[Mauricio] Pochettino did a great job. They have the structure there and will be a threat. They are in the top four race. When you look at the quality, the strength they have, Kane and players like that.

“It will be tough [for the other teams] because they have quality players and a quality manager and they have all the structure there, the training ground, the stadium, all those things, without a doubt they are in the top-four race.”

Also, the fans and reporters have been able to dig up a previous quote in which Jose Mourinho had claimed he would never manager Spurs because he loved the Chelsea fans too much.

And now Frank Lampard was asked whether he would ever consider taking charge of the cross-town rivals in the new future.

And here’s what he told the press.

“I can firmly say no. We have to respect his [Mourinho’s] right to work. I played here for 13 years, I am very proud to manage this club. I have friends who are Tottenham fans, it is not on my list.” the ex-Chelsea midfielder added.
