Manchester United successfully held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Yes, this is a statement that you do not associate with the Red Devils especially when they are playing at home but nowadays, Man United are just that kind of a team.

Arsenal took the lead twice in the game but somehow Jose Mourinho’s men fought back each time and managed to win a point at the end of the 90 minutes.

In all fairness, United should have won the game and both of Arsenal’s goals came as a direct mistake from the Man United players.

The first goal was literally gifted to the Gunners by David De Gea who instead of punching the ball on the goalline chose to pull off a Jordan Pickford and ended up helping the ball over the line.

The second strike from Arsenal game due to a weary pass from Marcos Rojo who gave the ball away to Lacazette and then in a bid to make a last-ditch challenge ended up putting the ball into his own net.

The Man United players did show a whole lot of character despite falling behind twice but Jose Mourinho felt that despite putting out a great shift, his team constantly lose focus which makes them pay eventually.

“We scored four goals and we drew 2-2. But we score four goals and even in matches like today where we play well, we always shoot ourselves,” said Mourinho.

“Sometimes we miss chances with an open goal, other times defensive mistakes, but fantastic spirit, good performances.

“I feel that is a moment where, for example, we play against the team that is at the top of their season, in a moment where everything goes well for them. That’s clearly a team on a high against a team with so many problems and the top of these problems, during football matches, we shoot ourselves.

“We had very good performances where we make mistakes and we are always punished.

“How many times are we the team with the big occasion in the start, but almost always, we don’t score, the opponent goes there and they don’t know how, but they are winning 1-0?

“It always happens and seems related to mistakes that we make, but sometimes we don’t have the feeling we played that really frustrates me. The frustration is the result, but the attitude was fantastic by everybody.”

The draw was a win-win situation for both the clubs and more so for Arsenal since Chelsea dropped points against Wolves.

Chelsea’s loss to Wolves on Wednesday means the Gunners are tied with the Blues on points – who are fourth on the league table.
