Jose Mourinho Spurs Premier League

Jose Mourinho is no stranger at stopping Liverpool from winning the Premier League title but even the former Man United manager believes the Reds will not lose their massive advantage.

After beating Man City 3-1 on Sunday, Liverpool have opened up an eight-point gap at the top of the table and most tabloids claim the Anfield outfit will finally get their hands on their maiden league title at the end of May.

While it is very hard to lose such a big advantage but people like Graeme Souness believe Man City still have what it takes to make it to the top of the table.

“City are a proper team, and don’t be writing them off. They will be back. They just played Liverpool at the wrong time today when they had big players missing,” Souness said.

“When you play them, you want to have all your big players playing at their best.”

But according to former Man United manager Jose Mourinho, it will be very tough for other teams to catch up with Liverpool and the only way Jurgen Klopp’s men will lose points is if they have a major injury crisis.

He said on Sky Sports: “If you are behind [in the title race], you have to feel like you can reach them. If you are top of the league with a big advantage, you have to feel like it is not over.

“But I am not there, I’m here. And here, from my position, I think it’s done unless something dramatic happens in terms of an injury situation that breaks the team.

“But I think the team is a complete puzzle. I feel the way they play is adapted to the qualities of the players.

“City are capable of winning seven, eight, nine matches in a row, but I can’t see how Liverpool can lose this advantage of nine points to them.”

Liverpool have so far dropped only two points in the league and this was against Man United but some people feel the Anfield outfit will lose some points during the busy festive period and this will be the chance for teams like Leicester and Man City to catch up with the European champions.
