Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard chose to sell off Josh Windass during the summer transfer window to Wigan Athletic – a move which left the Gers fans quite divided.

Some felt the 24-year-old was a troublemaker and the manager had made the right decision by offloading him.

Others were clearly against the idea citing reasons that Josh Windass was one of the brightest players for Rangers last season having scored 18 goals in all competitions.

Rangers had reportedly sold Josh Windass for a fee of around £1.5 million which was clearly not acceptable since everyone knew the midfielder was much more than that.

The management received a lot of criticism for their failure to pull off a better deal for Josh Windass but now the midfielder has finally opened about his move to Wigan.

Josh Windass has made it clear that his price tag was not, in fact, £1.5 million – thus saving the blushes of the Rangers management.

Josh Windass said:

“I got a text saying Wigan have had a bid accepted from Rangers of £2.5m and I’m like, ‘accepted, £2.5m?.‘I got 26 goals and assists in a team that wasn’t great for Rangers and they’re accepting £2.5m?”

So the Teddy Bears knew exactly what they were doing when they put Josh Windass up for sale despite the 24-year-old feeling that he was worth more than £2.5 million.

And now everyone is applauding Steven Gerrard since Josh Windass has not managed to make a great start to his Championship career.
