Manchester United have a number of players who are out of contract at the end of the season and some of them willing not be staying on beyond the summer.
And one of them could be Juan Mata.
Juan Mata joined Man United from Chelsea and since then the Spaniard has played a decent enough role under every manager.
While he has never quite been the main man but whenever needed the midfielder has been able to step up and help his team.
But with Solskjaer expected to bring in a number of new players during the summer, Man United are not going to renew the Spaniard’s contract.
Now though, MEN are suggesting something totally different.
As per the English publication, Juan Mata is pretty calm about his situation at the club and he wants to stay at Old Trafford despite knowing fully well that a number of Spanish clubs are interested in signing him during the summer.
Juan Mata wants a two-year deal at the club while Man United are only ready to offer him a one year contract and this is what seems to be the roadblock right now.
Man United though do not want to lose the Spaniard very easily since they plan to make him a club ambassador after he retires from professional football.
And as per MEN, this is because of the amount of charity work that Juan Mata has done off the field especially with his Common Goal initiative.
Some reports also suggest that even if Juan Mata does decide to leave the club on a free transfer this summer, Man United would want to bring him back at some point so that he can work alongside the long list of club ambassadors
But keeping the business aside, if Juan Mata does stay at Man United then surely it will be an added boost for Solskjaer since the player is longer forcing to start every game and having such a gifted player on the bench is more than a luxury for any manager.
