Liverpool were beaten 1-0 in the Champions League away from home on Wednesday and without a doubt, this has been the weakest performance we have seen from Klopp’s men this season.

Napoli were the more dominant side for most of the game and it seemed as if Liverpool just failed to arrive at the party.

Lorenzo Insigne scored the only goal of the game which came right on the stroke of the 90th minute but Napoli dominated the match right from kick off.

And after the match, Jurgen Klopp revealed the reason why his team failed to pick up three points.

According to the manager, his players were poor on the ball and he singled out Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino for special criticism.

Jurgen Klopp said“Sometimes Bobby [Firmino] ran too long with the ball, or Sadio [Mane] ran too long,” he said.

“When that happens, you cannot produce. The midfielders or the full-backs tried to go forward, but we lost the ball and had to go back in the other direction.

“It was intense, but we caused the intensity of the game ourselves.

“It was an interesting looking group before we started and it’s still interesting now. We want to play better than we did tonight, but even if we don’t play brilliantly, we want a result. Tonight we weren’t as good as we could be.”

But the manager did not stop at criticising the players only as to went on to put a large part of the blame upon himself.

“A big part of that performance is my fault,” he added.

“I need one night to watch the game again, but it looked not like it should have looked.”

Liverpool will now welcome Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday and if the Reds fail to pick up a win during this game then the season could take a very different turn for Jurgen Klopp.
