Chelsea have been eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz but over the past couple of weeks, the Blues have faced some stiff competition.

Apart from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Real Madrid have also joined the transfer race in the past few days making things extremely complicated for Frank Lampard.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have also been heavily linked with a move for Kai Havertz but as a report in the Daily Mail, the Bavarians are no longer interested in making a move for the 21-year-old.

The report cites Sports Bild saying: “A Premier League move for Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz has opened up with Bayern Munich reportedly out of the race.

“The newly-crowned Bundesliga champions have no intention of matching Leveruksen’s £70million asking price and are instead focusing on Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.

“But Bayern remain interested in the 21-year-old, and would be keen to discuss a transfer in 2021, according to SportBild.

“Bayern’s refusal to do business this summer opens the door for Chelsea and Manchester United to steal a march on one of the hottest young talents in Europe.”

Can Chelsea get their hands on Kai Havertz?

The potential exit of a team like Bayern Munich is a huge boost for Chelsea as Lampard will have one less club to worry about.

And while sides like Madrid and Manchester United can still put forward a strong challenge, it seems like the Blues have no intentions of backing off.

As per the rumours, Roman Abramovich has held a personal conversation with Kai Havertz regarding a transfer and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are confident they can pull the deal through before the other suitors.

This season, the 21-year-old has already scored 11 goals in 27 games for Leverkusen and the Bundesliga side have made it clear they will not let their most prized asset move out for cheap.

If Chelsea want to sign Kai Havertz they will have to be ready to shell out around £75 million in the form of transfer fees.
