Kevin De Bruyne suffered a knee injury during the early days of the 2018-19 season and the Belgian’s absence was a major blow to Pep Guardiola and his plans.

While Kevin De Bruyne’s injury did not affect Man City’s winning streak but with his playmaker out of action, the manager had to make a couple of smart changes to his starting line-up.

But now the midfielder is making rapid progress in training and there is a huge possibility that he could feature against Liverpool next weekend.

Manchester City are currently on top of the Premier League table tied on points with Liverpool and a win against Jurgen Klopp’s men would help the Citizen’s break out and create a gap at the top of the table.

And Kevin De Bruyne’s injury boost seems to have come at the right time.

Initially, Kevin De Bruyne’s injury was thought to be serious and as the midfielder was expected to remain on the sidelines for atleast three months.

But the City medical staff have done a fine job with him and reportedly De Bruyne has returned back to first-team training this week.

Man City take on Hoffenheim on Tuesday in the Champions League and Pep Guardiola would be itching to give De Bruyne some playing time during the European encounter.

But reports suggest that the manager will refrain from taking such an action on advice of his medical staff and more so on the back of such a high-profile clash against Liverpool.

Kevin De Bruyne’s injury boost though is a great news for Pep Guardiola and he is also hoping that left-back Benjamin Mendy will also make himself available before the next weekend after the French International suffered a foot injury.

Liverpool have failed to win their last two games – both of which were against Chelsea and Kevin De Bruyne’s injury boost could well mean that Jurgen Klopp’s men could be looking at the third straight game where they drop points.
