Kevin De Bruyne tackle on Januzaj

Belgium take on Panama on Monday in their first group stage encounter of the World Cup and before the match head coach Roberto Martinez is busy putting the final touches on his side.

And during a training session on Friday, Belgium playmaker Kevin De Bruyne made a horrific challenge on his international teammate Adnan Januzaj.

De Bruyne went straight through the former Manchester United winger and by the looks of it, the Man City man went in with every intent to injure Januzaj.

And the worst part of the challenge that has critics raising their voices is the fact that De Bruyne did not even care to go back and check on his teammate if he was ok or not.

When asked about De Bruyne’s challenge, former Belgium forward Marc Degryse said: ‘Maybe De Bruyne wanted to show Januzaj that he had to react to the ball a little faster?

‘It was a risky tackle that he would not do with a starting player.’

De Bruyne heaped praise on Raheem Sterling ahead of Belgium’s Group G clash with England.

‘He’s a special player. This season he was playing at such a high level and he’s only going to get better,’ he said.

‘He’s a winner — any criticism he has faced in the last few weeks I know he will just ignore.

‘At Manchester City, he’s so focused on success and I know he would have the same attitude with England.

‘He scored many goals last season, but he scored important goals too — goals that won games in the last minute – and that takes a special type of player.’
