Rangers FC were in line to sign Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell on loan for the rest of the season but now it seems the deal is on the verge of collapsing.

The Gers were planning to bring in some new midfielders after Ovie Ejaria chose to leave the club and head back to Liverpool.

And Kieran Dowell was one move which was almost secure but now reports are suggesting that Everton have made a u-turn and they no longer want to send the player out on loan.

The reason behind Everton’s latest decision is not yet known but it is pretty much sure that Kieran Dowell will not be heading to Scotland next month.

This is a huge setback for Rangers given the Everton man would have been the perfect replacement to Ovie Ejaria given his goal scoring form.

Dowell spent the last season out on loan to Nottingham Forest where he managed to score 10 goals in 43 games but this season he is yet to feature for Everton in the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder has made only two senior appearances this season for the Toffees but both of those have come in the Carabao Cup.

Dowell was part of the England team that won the Under-20 World Cup last year but right now he is well below the pecking order for Everton.

So we are still pondering as to why Marco Silva has chosen to cancel Kieran Dowell’s loan move to Rangers FC.
