Arsenal have been prolific this season under their new manager Unai Emery but there is one player who is not particularly happy with the Spaniard.

Yes, that man is Mesut Ozil.

Ozil signed a contract extension last season and once Emery took charge of the Gunners everyone expected the German to play a key role in the first team this season.

And once the new campaign began everything was shaping in the perfect way.

Mesut Ozil featured heavily during the first few games and the fans were finally happy that their new manager was utilising the full potential of the playmaker.

But during the past couple of months, Unai Emery has chosen to snub Mesut Ozil so much so that the German is on the verge of moving out during the January transfer window.

The biggest setback came when the manager chose not to select Mesut Ozil in the first team during Arsenal’s Carabao Cup loss to Spurs this midweek which was a clear indication that Ozil’s services were no longer required.

And now a report in the Independent has revealed that the omission of Mesut Ozil during the past couple of games has been due to ‘tactical reasons’.

“One training ground source said: ‘Every player has bought into the manager’s ideas so far, except Mesut.’

“While the German sees himself as a playmaker in an advanced role, Emery wants more pressing and running work from such players, and this has been brought up at animated meetings.”

Unai Emery clearly has no use of Mesut Ozil anymore and the likes of Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan has turned out to be perfect replacements for the playmaker.

Yes, Ozil has a vast pool of talent but his languid style of football has been a problem for Arsenal in the past as well.

And now Unai Emery has decided that it will be better to offload the playmaker instead of burdening the club by paying his enormous wages.
